Why I Believe in Empowering Leadership

Early in my career, I had the chance to work under two very different leadership styles. One leader provided guidance, encouraged ownership, and gave people the freedom to trial and error. The other was a micromanager—constantly requesting reports, monitoring every task, and needing to know everything at all times.

The difference in results was striking. The empowering leader’s team moved faster, made decisions independently, and delivered better outcomes with less stress. Meanwhile, the micromanager’s team felt drained, demotivated, and trapped in a cycle of inefficiency. I even saw employees deliberately working slowly just so they could stay late and appear hardworking—without actually achieving much.

That experience shaped my leadership philosophy. I knew then that I never wanted to be the kind of leader who slowed things down with control and oversight. I wanted to create environments where people felt trusted, motivated, and empowered to do their best work.

Since then, I’ve applied these lessons in my own businesses, in startups, and now as a Sales & Marketing Manager of a multi million dollar operation. The results have been clear: when people are given the right tools and ownership, they thrive. They stay committed, take initiative, and push things forward—without needing someone constantly watching over them.

Empowering Leadership isn’t just a concept; it’s the foundation of high-performing teams. And once you see things happening without you having to be there, you realize—that’s what real leadership is about.

I’ve led teams and driven business growth across multiple countries and cities, working in diverse markets from Stockholm Sweden to China cities like Hong Kong, Wuhan, Shanghai and Ningbo back to Norway. My leadership experience spans multinational corporations, startups, and remote teams, managing operations and sales across borders. Whether leading teams on the ground or working with distributed teams across time zones, I’ve seen firsthand how strong leadership transcends geography—empowering people, driving results, and building high-performing teams anywhere in the world
